Microsoft denies Xbox360 price cut

With the impending release of the two remaining next-generation consoles, the Wii and the PS3, Microsoft is in a prime position to do some undercutting by lowering the price of their Xbox360 come fall. This was the theory maintained by much of the gaming community (myself included), and seemed reasonable enough considering that the machine will have been on the market for close to a year by this fall.

Well, that theory has been squashed with the utmost enthusiasm by Microsoft's Gamerscore Blog:

"As you're all aware, there have been rumors of a price drop for the Xbox 360 coming along later this year. The official word from folks in the know is that there are currently no plans for a price drop this fall."

My favorite part? The second paragraph.

"If you’ve been holding off picking one up because you think they’ll be cheaper in the future, or they’ve been hard to find, or because you’re too busy catching up on past episodes of Lost, wait no longer! "

Yes, our product is still $400! So buy it now!

Unfortunately for me, this means I'm going to end up shelling our full price for the 360 once Mass Effect hits. Becasue there's only so much a man can resist, and I think a Sci-Fi Epic from BioWare may be my limit.
